No. 16 Oklahoma (19-6, 7-5 SEC) triumphed over Missouri (13-14, 2-10 SEC) with a final score of 82-66 on Sunday at Mizzou Arena.
Here are some key highlights from the game:
Raegan Beers Makes a Strong Comeback
Raegan Beers, the junior center, returned to the lineup after missing games against Mississippi and Auburn due to an illness. In her comeback against Missouri, she started and played for 26 minutes.
Bringing aggression on both offense and defense, Beers recorded six rebounds, one block, and one steal. She finished the game contributing six points, seven rebounds, and two assists, while maintaining a perfect record from the free-throw line, scoring two out of two attempts.
Turnovers Remain a Challenge
Throughout the season, Oklahoma has struggled with turnovers, which have allowed opponents to capitalize and score points. Despite a promising start where Oklahoma only had six turnovers in the first half compared to Missouri’s nine, they still allowed the Tigers to score nine points from those turnovers.
During their last encounter on January 16, Oklahoma suffered 22 turnovers, leading to 18 points for Missouri. In this latest matchup, the total number of turnovers reached 33, with Oklahoma committing 15 that allowed the Tigers to score 19 points. Although this was one of the lower turnover games for the Sooners, it still fell short of their season average of 19.7 turnovers per game.
A Strong Second Half
At halftime, Oklahoma was down 44-40, as Missouri demonstrated strong performance with four three-pointers and a shooting accuracy of 63% (17 of 27) from the floor.
However, the Sooners regained their momentum in the second half, significantly outplaying the Tigers. In the third quarter, redshirt senior guard Lexy Keys emerged as a top scorer, successfully making two out of three field goal attempts, nailing two of Oklahoma’s three-pointers, and completing a flawless record from the free-throw line. Keys concluded the game with 13 points and one rebound.
In the fourth quarter, Oklahoma maintained its momentum, continuing to build their lead to secure a valuable road victory.
Looking ahead, the Sooners will return to Norman for their next game against Vanderbilt (18-7, 5-6 SEC) at 6 p.m. on Thursday at the Lloyd Noble Center, which will be broadcast on SEC Network+.
