The matchup began with Xavier establishing an early lead, scoring five unanswered points. McWhorter managed to get Ohio on the board with a pull-up jumper. Tabeling’s three-pointer equalized the score at 5-5, but Xavier soon regained momentum, finishing the first quarter ahead, 17-14.
