Northwest Mississippi Community College Women’s Programs Achieve Excellence
In a remarkable achievement, the women’s athletic programs at Northwest Mississippi Community College have secured the Halbrook Award for Academic Achievement. This accolade is considered the pinnacle of academic success within collegiate athletics in Mississippi.
Acknowledging Academic Excellence
Presented by the Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL), the Halbrook Award honors the outstanding graduation rates among state colleges. Northwest’s women’s teams achieved an impressive 100% graduation rate, sharing this distinction in the Mississippi Community College Division with Jones College.
Historic Milestone
This commendable feat resulted in 29 female student-athletes graduating, marking only the second time the Rangers have received the Halbrook Award, with the previous win occurring in the 2017-18 academic year.
Collective Success Across Teams
The perfect graduation rate reflects a collective effort among all six women’s sports programs. The number of graduates from each team is as follows:
- Softball: 10 graduates
- Women’s Soccer: 9 graduates
- Volleyball: 4 graduates
- Women’s Tennis: 3 graduates
- Women’s Basketball: 2 graduates
- Women’s Golf: 1 graduate
