Gabi Nicastro Advances to Match Play in Women’s Western Amateur
ROYAL OAK, Mich. – Gabi Nicastro, a rising junior from Samford University’s golf team, showcased her skills at the Women’s Western Amateur held at Red Run Golf Club. After two challenging rounds of stroke play, Nicastro finished tied for fifth place, earning her a spot in the match play competition.
In the second round of the tournament, Nicastro recorded a score of even par, 72, which contributed to her impressive two-round total of 140 (comprising of a 68 in the first round and the recent 72). Her performance placed her among the top players in a competitive 120-player field.
The match play phase of the tournament is set to commence on Thursday, featuring the top 32 competitors from the stroke play rounds. The event will continue until Sunday, allowing fans and supporters to witness the unfolding action.
