Title 9 Sports Bar Officially Opens in East Liberty, Pittsburgh
Grand Opening and Purpose
On Friday, the Title 9 Sports Bar in East Liberty celebrated its official opening after a series of successful pop-up events. Owner Sherree Goldstein expressed her excitement, stating, “Our pop-ups were packed. We wanted to get a feel for how this would be received and we also needed some time to finish remodeling the space.”
Trailblazing Concept
Title 9 holds the distinction of being the first sports bar in Pittsburgh dedicated to women’s sports, drawing inspiration from similar venues in other cities. It is situated conveniently on Centre Avenue, adjacent to Square Café, which Goldstein also owns. Notably, both establishments share the same kitchen.
Community Impact
Prominent athletes like Karen Hall, a basketball star from Mount Alvernia and the University of Nevada Las Vegas, attended the opening. She remarked, “This is a great day for women’s athletics. It’s such a resource for women’s sports. It’s incredible.” Hall emphasized the bar’s inclusive environment, stating it’s open to everyone, not just women. Goldstein aims to create a welcoming atmosphere for all patrons, noting, “We need more spaces that are welcoming.”
Facilities and Offerings
Title 9 features a full bar, eight televisions, and unique amenities like a rooftop bar area and garage windows. The establishment is committed to airing a wide range of women’s sports, including college basketball, WNBA games, soccer, and more, ensuring all fans can find something to enjoy.
The food menu emphasizes locally sourced ingredients and offers a variety of options, including:
- House-made salsa

Local Flavor and Future Plans
In addition to a diverse food menu, Title 9 will feature local beverages such as Jackworth Ginger Beer and Voyager Hard Cider. Non-alcoholic options will also be available, including Stateside Vodka produced in Pennsylvania. A rooftop area is set to open later this summer, further enhancing the venue’s appeal.
Significance and Future Outlook
“Viewership of women’s sports is skyrocketing,” Goldstein noted, emphasizing the timely nature of the bar’s opening. The establishment will serve as a hub for fans to gather and watch women’s athletic events, further cementing Title 9’s role in promoting women’s sports in Pittsburgh.
