New Women’s Health Clinic Set to Open in Hazard
HAZARD, Ky. – A new women’s health clinic will officially open on December 30, providing dedicated care to women in Hazard and its surrounding areas. This clinic is relocating from the Primary Care Center to a new site within the Professional Office Building at Hazard ARH Regional Medical Center.
Enhanced Services and Accessibility
The relocation is designed to broaden the clinic’s offerings and ensure that women have improved access to essential health services while retaining the same trusted providers. Dr. Ramon Thomas, an obstetrician-gynecologist at the clinic, assures patients that the transition will be straightforward.
“Patients won’t need to change their routine; they just need to drive to our new location,” Dr. Thomas explained. “Being affiliated with the hospital and ARH will give us greater resources at our disposal.”
Proximity to Critical Services
The new facility will enhance the clinic’s ability to swiftly address emergencies by being situated closer to crucial hospital amenities, such as labor and delivery and surgical services. Jessica Combs, the Kentucky River Region Clinic Administrator at ARH, emphasized the convenience of the new location.
“This move means our providers can efficiently manage their time, remaining in the office rather than spending prolonged periods on the hospital floor with patients,” Combs said.
Meeting the Region’s Women’s Health Needs
Dr. Thomas highlighted the increasing demand for specialized women’s health care in the area, particularly in rural regions where access might be limited. “For quite a while, there hasn’t been a well-established OB-GYN office in this locality. Our aim is to provide necessary services moving forward,” he noted.
Continuing Comprehensive Care
The clinic is committed to maintaining its range of services, including prenatal care, contraceptive services, menopause management, and labor and delivery. Dr. Thomas emphasized the importance of offering these services locally.
“When it comes to obstetrical care, the urgency often requires immediate attention. Traveling to cities like Louisville, Cincinnati, or Lexington can be challenging and time-consuming,” he remarked. “We are thrilled to bring essential services to the women in our community.”
Location and Contact Information
The women’s health clinic will be located at 200 Medical Center Drive in the Professional Office Building adjacent to Hazard ARH. For scheduling appointments, call 606-439-5220. Additional details will be posted on the ARH website.
