Rice Women’s Basketball Ready for 2025 Discover Puerto Rico Shootout
The Rice University women’s basketball team is gearing up for the 2025 Discover Puerto Rico Shootout, which will take place over the Thanksgiving period in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Scheduled for November 26-28, the tournament will feature the Owls competing in three games against diverse opponents.

Throughout the event, the Owls will compete against:
- UCF
- Illinois State
- Morgan State
All games will be hosted at Coliseo Guillermo Angulo, a premier venue in San Juan.

This year marks the second consecutive season that the Rice Owls will participate in a Multi-Team Event (MTE), following their involvement in the Cancun Challenge last year, where they faced off against BYU and Vermont. In the previous season, Rice concluded with a record of 17-17, securing back-to-back appearances in the American Athletic Conference (AAC) Championship game.

- Illinois State: The Redbirds had an impressive 2024-25 season, finishing with a 24-13 record, and reached the Fab Four of the WNIT.
