Silver Cross Hospital Renames Center to Reflect Expanded Breast Health Services
Silver Cross Hospital, located in New Lenox, has officially changed the name of its Center for Women’s Health to the Silver Cross Center for Breast Health. This modification aligns with the hospital’s enhanced focus on breast health services.
Focus on Breast Care
Marci Vasiliades, the administrative director of imaging services at Silver Cross, stated, “We changed the name because after we moved to the new location, we started doing more and more breast procedures, compared to others such as pelvic ultrasounds.” This indicates a clear pivot toward prioritizing breast health in their service offerings.
Upgraded Facilities
In conjunction with the name change, the hospital has upgraded its facilities to better serve patients. Recently, they added a fourth mammography machine, with plans to introduce a third breast ultrasound machine in the near future.
Inclusivity in Breast Health
The renaming also emphasizes awareness that breast cancer can affect individuals of all genders. Vasiliades noted, “We don’t see as many men here as women, but, yes, the Silver Cross Center for Breast Health is for women and men.” This acknowledgment is a vital part of broadening the center’s outreach and services.
