Seattle’s June Food and Drink Highlights: Celebrating Pride Month
Pride Month Celebrations at Rhein Haus Seattle
This June, Seattle embraces Pride Month with joyous events and festivities. Rhein Haus Seattle will host a month-long “Bear-Garten,” featuring poolside activities, interactive photo opportunities, and an array of frozen beverages for guests of all ages. Mark your calendars for Saturday, June 7, when the patio party kicks off with music from DJ Alfonso Tan and festive rainbow Jell-O shots.
Signature Cocktails to Celebrate Love
Local restaurants are also joining the celebration with exclusive “Love is Love” cocktails. At Poquitos Seattle, indulge in a refreshing vodka and marionberry concoction, while Sabine offers a unique mix of mezcal, Jamaican rum, Aperol, raspberry, rhubarb, pineapple, lime, and banana ube whip. Each drink comes with a special commemorative pin, adding to the Pride experience.
An Exciting Addition to Capitol Hill
Capitol Hill will welcome a new sports bar focused on women’s sports: Pitch the Baby. Owners Monica Dimas, Anais Custer, and Kimfer Flanery-Rye are reimagining the traditional sports bar with a menu featuring Mexican cuisine and just the right amount of televisions for sporting events. This venue is set to open in June, coinciding with the seasons for the Seattle Storm and Reign, and will feature drink specials that correspond with live games.
Elevated Dining in the Sky
Travel enthusiasts and food lovers alike will appreciate Alaska Airlines’ latest initiative launching on June 5. As part of their expanded “Chef’s (tray) Table” program, first-class passengers can enjoy meal options curated by James Beard Award-winning chef Brady Williams. Entrees include fried chicken and mochi waffles for breakfast, and short ribs or seared ahi tuna for dinner, bringing luxury dining to 30,000 feet.
A Fond Farewell to a Local Landmark
In bittersweet news, the College Inn Pub, a cherished gathering spot for University of Washington students for over 50 years, has announced its closure at the end of its lease. Citing renovation costs, structural challenges, and decreased foot traffic in the post-pandemic landscape, the pub plans to serve its final drinks on June 15. This venue has been a staple for study sessions, celebrations, and social gatherings for generations.
