Ne-Yo Openly Discusses His Relationships with Children
Ne-Yo, the 45-year-old singer known for his hit songs, has shared insights into his personal life, particularly regarding his relationships with multiple women. During a recent appearance on the Rickey Smiley Morning Show, he revealed that he has had candid conversations with his children about his polyamorous lifestyle.
Honesty at Home
When asked if his children inquire about his love life, Ne-Yo responded affirmatively, stating, “Of course they do. And I answer them. Honesty. I’m not lying to anybody, not even my children.” Ne-Yo emphasized that he openly introduces his partners, saying, “Hey, this is daddy’s girlfriend, and so is that, and so is that.”
Family and Community
Ne-Yo, whose real name is Shaffer Chimere Smith, also highlighted how his partners contribute positively to the family dynamic. He noted that they help care for his children by making meals and doing laundry, asserting, “It’s family. It’s community.”
A Loving Father of Seven
The “Miss Independent” artist is a devoted father to seven children. He has two kids, Madilyn, 14, and Mason, 13, with his ex-fiancée, Monyetta Shaw-Carter. He shares three children – Shaffer, eight, Roman, six, and Isabella, three – with his former wife, Crystal Renay. Additionally, his two youngest, Braiden, three, and Braxton, one, are with influencer Sade Jenea Bagnerise.
Clarifying His Relationship Approach
In the same segment, Ne-Yo revealed that he is currently dating four women. He described the importance of honesty in making his relationships work, stating, “The key ingredient is honesty. Everyone has to be truthful.” He believes that his previous dishonesty in relationships led to unnecessary difficulties and regrets not embracing this open approach sooner.
Respect for Everyone’s Feelings
Ne-Yo further explained that he is not manipulating or coercing anyone into his lifestyle. Instead, he sets clear expectations from the outset: “I like you, but I also like her, and her, and her. If you’re cool with that, we’re going to have a great time.”
Facing Criticism with Confidence
The singer also addressed the backlash he received after being photographed with three of his partners: influencer Arielle Hill and OnlyFans models Phoenixx Feather and Bella. On Instagram, he expressed his indifference to critics, saying, “Fun fact: I don’t care.”
Support from His Partners
Feather, one of his partners, has publicly defended their relationship on social media. Posting a photo of the four of them together, she stated, “Yes, we’re in the public eye and we know people will voice their opinions, but understand that over here it’s a solid foundation.”
Reflecting on Past Relationships
In 2022, Ne-Yo faced turmoil in his personal life when his ex-wife, Crystal Renay, revealed on social media that their marriage ended due to infidelity. She expressed her heartbreak, stating, “8 years of lies and deception” and emphasized her choice to prioritize her own happiness and respect.
