National Citizen Party Addresses Rising Attacks on Female Members
Concerns Raised During General Meeting
The National Citizen Party (NCP) has expressed significant concern over an increasing number of aggressive attacks aimed at its female members, particularly through media outlets and social media platforms.
Proposed Measures for Protection
In response to these issues, the NCP has announced a comprehensive series of measures aimed at safeguarding its female members against harassment and defamation.
During their 6th general meeting held at the party’s central office in Bangla Motor, Dhaka, party officials detailed a strategy that includes:
- Filing formal complaints with the Press Council against media organizations that disseminate false or defamatory information regarding female leaders.
- Submitting complaints to relevant government agencies concerning individuals who engage in abusive or threatening behavior on social media platforms, such as Facebook.
- Coordinating with diaspora supporters to lodge complaints with embassies and foreign authorities against those overseas perpetrating harmful content about Bangladeshi women.
Member secretary Akter Hossain emphasized that such harmful content not only impacts the individuals directly targeted but also damages the overall representation of women in politics and society.
Formalization of Party Constitution
In addition to addressing these pressing issues, the NCP took a significant step by adopting its party constitution, which outlines its organizational structure and governance framework. This move is intended to strengthen the party’s internal operation while enhancing its commitment to protecting its members.
