In a thrilling third round at the U.S. Senior Women’s Open, held at the San Diego Country Club, three players have emerged with a shared lead. Welsh golfer Becky Morgan, who recently celebrated her 50th birthday, recorded a birdie on the par-4 18th hole, settling for an even-par score of 73. This performance brought her total to 4-under 215, putting her in a tie for the lead with Canada’s Corina Kelepouris and Sweden’s Maria McBride.
Both Kelepouris and McBride contributed to the competitive atmosphere of the tournament, each carding a score of 72 for the day. Their consistency has allowed them to match Morgan, who is making her inaugural appearance in this prestigious event.
Among the contenders, Liselotte Neumann and Ashli Bunch stood out, being the only other participants to finish the round under par, with both completing their rounds with a score of 74, resulting in a cumulative total of 1 under.
Juli Inkster added a score of 72 to her tally, finishing the round at 1 over. Trish Johnson recorded a 73, while Leta Lindley completed the day with a 74. The tournament’s first-round leader, Annika Sorenstam, experienced a setback, ending the day with a 75, now sitting at 4 over for the championship.
The competition at the U.S. Senior Women’s Open continues to intensify as participants gear up for the final round, eager to see who will take home the coveted title.
