Renewed Sponsorship Agreement
On May 1, 2025, Mizuho Americas announced the extension of its title sponsorship of the Mizuho Americas Open through 2030, with a notable increase in the tournament’s purse to $3.25 million for 2026. This amount positions the Mizuho Americas Open among the highest prize pools not only on the LPGA Tour but also outside of major championships.
Event Venue and Format
The tournament will continue its successful model, where emerging talents from the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) compete alongside elite women golfers. After three years at the prestigious Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, NJ, the event will shift to Mountain Ridge Country Club in West Caldwell, NJ, for 2026 and 2027, before returning to Liberty National through 2030.
Commitment to Women’s Sports
Jerry Rizzieri, President & CEO of Mizuho Securities USA, emphasized the firm’s dedication to women’s sports, stating, “We first partnered with the LPGA, AJGA, and Liberty National in 2023 to create a one-of-a-kind tournament that stands apart from the others.” Mizuho’s commitment extends beyond funding, as they will continue to provide first-class accommodations and transportation for all competing LPGA players.
Community and Philanthropic Efforts
The tournament aims to leave a lasting impact on local communities and aspiring female golfers. “Mizuho’s continued support of the LPGA and its players speaks volumes about the company’s culture,” remarked Liz Moore, Interim LPGA Commissioner. The partnership will also feature the Mizuho DrivHER Summit, a forum created in conjunction with Girls Inc. to encourage young women to explore leadership opportunities while participating in workshops on self-confidence and career planning.
A Premier Event on the LPGA Tour
Since its inception, the Mizuho Americas Open has quickly become a cornerstone of the LPGA Tour. Its innovative format allows junior golfers to learn from professional players, thus creating a unique platform for inspiring the next generation. Dan Fireman, Co-Founder of Liberty National Golf Club, stated, “This event is truly unique and embodies our ethos and deep commitment to growing the game through the Liberty National Foundation’s Torch Lighters Club.”
Looking Ahead
The sponsorship agreement guarantees that the event remains a key highlight in the LPGA calendar, with Mizuho continuing to focus on enhancing the championship experience for players and fans alike. Kevin Hopkins, Senior Vice President at Excel Sports Management, highlighted the shared vision, expressing excitement about the future of the event.
