Jackson, Miss. – Millsaps College has announced the appointment of Luke Schwarz as the new head coach for the women’s soccer team. This decision reflects the college’s commitment to enhancing its athletics program, particularly in women’s sports.
Schwarz joins Millsaps after a diverse coaching career that spans various competitive levels, including NCAA Division II, club teams, and high school soccer. He has cultivated a strong reputation as a leader on the field and was previously the assistant coach for the women’s soccer team at Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama. During his tenure there, he played a crucial role in guiding the team to its inaugural appearance in the conference tournament era.
Under Schwarz’s leadership, Spring Hill’s performance dramatically improved; the team went from a challenging 0-17 season before his arrival to a record of 7-8-3 in the subsequent season. His work in recruiting and retaining both domestic and international players contributed significantly to the team’s success, with numerous athletes receiving individual accolades.
Schwarz’s coaching journey also includes significant achievements at Union 10 FC, where he served as the head girl’s soccer coach. His coaching prowess led the U-17 team to a State Cup Championship in 2024, while the U-16 team were finalists in 2023.
Earlier in his career, Schwarz held various assistant coaching positions, including roles at the Out-of-Door Academy in Sarasota, Florida, where he contributed to the boy’s soccer team reaching district finals. He also served as the head coach for the middle school girl’s soccer team during his time there. Additionally, he was an assistant coach at Lakewood Ranch High School.
As a player, Schwarz has a substantial background, having spent four years at the University of Dallas (2014-2017), where he was team captain for three years and earned the title of team MVP twice. He achieved recognition on the All-SCAC team three times and was also part of the All-SCAC Tournament Team on two occasions.
His professional playing experience includes stints with Bollstanas SK in Sweden (2016), FC Cleburne in Texas (2018), and the Orlando SeaWolves indoor team (2019). He played for Sarasota Metropolis from 2019 to 2021, captaining the team to achieve a Division Championship and a top finish in the UPSL Round of 32.
Schwarz holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the University of Dallas and is certified with a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) D License.
