Megyn Kelly recently expressed her support for political activist Riley Gaines via a post on X, in response to Gaines’ critique of Whoopi Goldberg’s remarks on transgender athletes during an episode of The View that aired on March 11, 2025.
During the episode, Whoopi made headlines by stating that it was inappropriate for women and transgender athletes to compete against one another, suggesting that the challenges faced by transgender individuals mirror those that women experience today.
The broadcast also included influencer Dylan Mulvaney, and various figures did not take kindly to Goldberg’s statements. On the same day the episode aired, Riley shared a clip of Whoopi’s comments on X, accompanied by her own thoughts:
“I will never not be impressed by how unintellectual and out of touch the women of The View are lol. Absolutely remarkable.”
The following day, March 12, 2025, Megyn Kelly retweeted Riley’s post, adding her own commentary:
“Why is it the whole world can acknowledge that women are at a strength disadvantage when it comes to the risk of sexual assault/rape but when it comes to athletics the message is: ‘women are as strong as men! You got this, ladies!!’”

As of now, Megyn has not elaborated further on the viral remarks, nor has Riley commented on Megyn’s tweet. The video linked to Riley’s tweet featured Whoopi asserting that female athletes are conscious of their choices, stating:
“When you come in and say these are men competing against women, you’re assuming that the women are weak and just can’t do anything.”
Whoopi Goldberg’s Reference to Gavin Newsom on The View
In her remarks on The View, Whoopi also referenced comments made by California Governor Gavin Newsom on March 6, 2025, who argued that it is unjust for transgender athletes to participate in women’s sports.
Newsom’s statement was reportedly a response to a question from political activist Charlie Kirk regarding his stance on “no men in female sports.”
During the discussion, Whoopi invited Dylan Mulvaney to share her thoughts on Newsom’s comments. However, Mulvaney refrained from giving a straightforward answer, instead quoting a line from the musical Wicked:
“The last time I played a sport, I was 6 years old, and I was on a soccer team, but I appointed myself as the nurse, so I sat with the Band-Aids. And, in the words of ‘Wicked’, I am not that girl.”
Dylan shared that she follows advocates like Schuyler Bailar, a swimmer and LGBTQ rights activist, and reflected on her own journey, mentioning that it has only been three years since she came out as trans and that adapting to her identity poses its challenges. She described herself as a “baby trans.”
Many notable figures have taken to social media to criticize Whoopi Goldberg’s comments from The View, including author Jennifer Sey, yet as of this writing, Goldberg has not responded to any of the criticisms.
