Manchester United Appoints Scott Rogers as Women’s Team Assistant Coach
Manchester United has taken a significant step in strengthening its women’s team by naming Scott Rogers as the new assistant coach. His appointment comes after a notable career in women’s football, most recently serving as the assistant head coach for Liverpool’s women’s team until August.
A Brief History with Liverpool
Rogers enjoyed two separate spells at Liverpool. Initially, he was with the club from 2013 to 2018, where he contributed to the team’s remarkable journey to winning the Women’s Super League title twice, in 2013 and 2014, while serving as assistant manager under Matt Beard. Following that, he transitioned to the role of manager from 2015 to 2018, where he led the team to respectable mid-table finishes.
Joining Manchester United
At Manchester United, Rogers will be collaborating with head coach Marc Skinner and his first-team assistants, Dan Bale and Carl Green. Bale joined the staff in November 2023, while Green brings prior experience from ventures at Orlando Pride and Birmingham City.
Rogers was recently spotted at Leigh Sports Village as United opened their 2025-26 Women’s Super League (WSL) campaign with an impressive 4-0 victory over Leicester City.
Coaching Credentials
Holding a UEFA Pro Licence, Rogers’s coaching experience transcends both men’s and women’s football. His prior roles include serving as head of coaching at Accrington Stanley for almost three years, and earlier, he was an academy coach at Blackburn Rovers.
Rogers’s appointment comes in the wake of several changes in the coaching staff at United. Charlotte Healy, Skinner’s previous assistant, departed in June after six fruitful years to take the head coach position at Bristol City women, among other staff changes this summer.
Looking Ahead
United’s next fixture will be against Brann in the first leg of their Champions League third qualifying round, scheduled for Thursday.
