Concern Raised Over Rising Repressions Against Women and Children
The Ganatantra Mancha, which consists of six political parties, issued a statement on Sunday highlighting their worries regarding the escalating repression faced by women and children across the nation. They also condemned the legal actions taken against student leaders.
The interim government has fallen short in its duty to uphold law and order while failing to protect vulnerable groups, particularly women and children, as indicated in the statement.

The Ganatantra Mancha leaders have also called upon the government to drop the charges against student leaders who participated in a march towards the chief adviser’s residence in Dhaka on March 11.
In a concerning incident, police attempted to apprehend Moshiur Rahman Khan Richard, president of the Bangladesh Chhatra Federation, at his residence in Dhaka late Saturday night. This action was perceived as contrary to the principles upheld during the July-August uprising, according to the statement.
The political coalition further urged the interim government to halt such oppressive measures and take necessary actions to safeguard women’s and children’s rights against further repression.
Among the signatories of the statement are prominent leaders: Saiful Huq, coordinator of the Ganatantra Mancha and general secretary of the Revolutionary Workers Party; Mahmudur Rahman Manna, president of Nagarik Oikya; Zonayed Saki, chief coordinator of Ganosamhati; Sheikh Rafiqul Islam Bablu, convener of Bhashani Anusari Parishad; Hasnat Quaiyum, chief coordinator of Rashtra Sanskar Andolan; and Shahid Uddin Mahmod Shapon, general secretary of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal-JSD.
