Briggs Recognized as MAAC Women’s Runner of the Week
NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) has officially named sophomore Alexa Briggs of the Niagara women’s cross country team as the Women’s Runner of the Week, as announced on Wednesday afternoon.
This marks the second time that Briggs has received this honor, her previous recognition being on September 14, 2024. The native of Rochester, N.Y., played a pivotal role in leading her team to victory at the Little Three Championships. This achievement is significant, marking Niagara’s first title in this event since 2019 and only the third victory in the past two decades.
Briggs excelled in the championship race, completing the course with a time of 17:59.1, thereby securing the Little Three crown for her team.
The Niagara women’s cross country team is set to compete again on September 20 at the Yellowjacket Invitational, hosted by the University of Rochester.
