Upcoming Women’s Lacrosse Matchup
Lynchburg, Virginia — The Lynchburg women’s lacrosse team is preparing for an important neutral game against the Otterbein Cardinals on Wednesday, March 12, at Warner University.
The Otterbein Cardinals (1-4) enter this contest on a challenging three-game losing streak, having faced a setback against Oglethorpe with a score of 16-6 in their latest match. Their only win this season was a close 13-11 victory over Wittenberg.
Leading the Cardinal offense is the dynamic duo of Ava Robey, known for her playmaking prowess with 14 assists this year, and Alyssa Glenn, the top scorer who has netted 20 goals in just four games. Glenn has been impressive so far, scoring a hat trick in every game this season, highlighted by an exceptional six-goal performance against Ohio Wesleyan. Robey has also showcased her skills by recording multiple assists in every game, achieving a season-high of five assists in a game against Transylvania. Additionally, she ranks second on the team with nine goals.
The Hornets (4-2) come into the game riding the momentum of two consecutive dominant victories. Recently, Lynchburg has outscored their adversaries 26-4 in their last two matches, including a resounding 20-1 win over Warner University. Offensive leaders, McKenna Steinau and Sysndye Dumas, have been key contributors, scoring a combined total of 29 goals along with five assists.
One of Lynchburg’s defining strengths is their ability to control momentum through effective draw control wins. Neely Morris has emerged as a leader in this area, securing 21 draw controls this season, while Mya Hausauer follows closely with 14.
After this matchup, the Hornets will return home for a conference showdown against the Ferrum Panthers (2-1) on Tuesday, March 18.
