Live Coverage of Liège-Bastogne-Liège Femmes

Welcome to the live broadcast of the highly anticipated 9th edition of Liège-Bastogne-Liège Femmes, where cycling enthusiasts are eager to witness the final race of the Ardennes Classics for this season. Set against a backdrop of stunning landscapes, participants have found both triumphs and challenges in this exhausting spring event.

Start of the Race

The neutral start commenced as riders gathered, with the official flag drop expected at 13:45 local time. Among the notable competitors are the previous Ardennes winners, Puck Pieterse of Fenix-Deceuninck and Kasia Niewiadoma of Canyon//SRAM – zondacrypto, alongside World Champion Lotte Kopecky from SD Worx – Protime. This diverse lineup adds to the excitement surrounding the race, which also includes Demi Vollering from FDJ SUEZ, seeking her first win of the season.

Initial Dynamics

As the race progressed, the peloton remained intact for the first 10 km, with a focus on strategy as they approached the first climb—the Côte de Sain-Roch. Unfortunately, the competition was marred by an earlier crash, leading to the withdrawal of Silvia Persico from UAE Team ADQ.

Breakaway Action

Shortly after the initial climbs, three riders made a strategic break: Victorie Guilman from Cofidis, Tiril Jørgensen of Team Coop-Repsol, and Constance Valentin representing Winspace Orange Seal. They quickly established a 20-second lead. Other riders, including Laura Molenaar from VolkerWessels Women’s Pro Cycling Team, pursued to join this leading trio.

Race Situation Update

  • **Leaders:** Guilman, Jørgensen, and Valentin
  • **Chasers:** Molenaar (+15s), Anderson, Hashimi, De Francesco, Swinkels (+45s)
  • **Peloton:** 1 minute and 45 seconds behind

As the race unfolded, Laura Molenaar managed to catch up, gradually closing the gap behind the leading group. Meanwhile, the peloton trailed 3 minutes behind, indicating a tactical game of patience and endurance in the early stages.

Further Developments

The breakaway’s advantage continued to grow, reaching a 3’45” gap as the competition progressed toward the halfway mark. The riders’ physical endurance was tested, with strategies shifting as they entered more challenging terrain.

Important Updates

Amidst a tense atmosphere, the race dynamics shifted again. The group’s advancements were noteworthy, with Laura Molenaar’s team, VolkerWessels, showcasing resilience as they fought to join the leaders. As they maneuvered through the course, the dynamics of the race indicated the potential for last-minute changes in standings, characteristic of such high-stakes events.

Conclusion

The 9th edition of Liège-Bastogne-Liège Femmes promises to deliver an exhilarating conclusion to the Ardennes Classics. With competition heating up, cycling fans eagerly await the final outcomes as riders display grit and determination on this challenging course.
