Lingaro Launches IT Power Women Global Mentoring Programme in India
Lingaro is excited to introduce its IT Power Women Global Mentoring Programme in India, reflecting its dedication to enhancing gender diversity within the technology sector. Simultaneously launched in Poland and the Philippines, this initiative aims to empower women in information technology with essential mentorship, career guidance, and leadership development.
Building an Inclusive and Supportive Workplace
The programme intends to cultivate a more inclusive, diverse, and supportive environment for women in tech. Its central goals include empowerment, development, networking, inclusion, and leadership.
Achievements and Recognition
Having already supported over 35 mentees and being recognized by the Responsible Business Forum—Poland’s leading NGO in corporate social responsibility—Lingaro’s expansion into India is a significant step toward empowering even more women in technology. This endeavor reinforces the company’s vision of fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive industry.
Empowerment Through Mentorship
Suresh Ramamoorthy, Country Head of Lingaro India, proudly states, “Women currently comprise 31% of our global workforce, with women holding 40% of managerial positions—a remarkable feat in the traditionally male-dominated IT industry.” He further emphasizes that “the IT Power Women Global Mentoring Programme builds on this success; we recognize that empowering women in tech transcends mentorship—it’s about shaping the future of technology. This programme is pivotal for fostering leadership, promoting career advancement, and cultivating an equitable tech ecosystem where skilled women can flourish.”
Programme Structure and Mentor-Mentee Matching
The programme follows a well-structured approach, starting with mentor recruitment. Experienced mentors are selected from within the organization through an internal assessment process. Motivated and engaged female tech students, committed to their personal and professional growth, will be invited to apply through an online application. Mentors will be matched with mentees based on their skills, experiences, and career aspirations, fostering meaningful mentoring relationships.
Launch Event and Ongoing Engagement
The official launch will feature an event where participants will gather, set programme expectations, and engage in an interactive training session covering mentoring best practices.
Regular meetings will be held between mentors and mentees to discuss career goals, obstacles, and actionable plans for development. Additionally, the programme will promote networking opportunities among participants and other women in IT at Lingaro, recognizing achievements and gathering feedback for future iterations.
Enhancing Women’s Participation in Tech
The Women’s Workforce Participation Rate (WPR) in India’s tech industry is anticipated to rise to 14.9%, indicating a significant demographic shift in one of the country’s fastest-growing sectors. Currently, 1.92 million women are active participants in the tech workforce. The IT Power Women Global Mentoring Programme aims to ensure that women not only join the industry but also contribute significantly to its growth, bridging the gender gap and creating a more inclusive landscape.
