The League of Women Voters of Greater Hazleton has scheduled an informative session on September 16 at 6 p.m. The event will take place at the Hazleton Area Public Library, specifically in the Reference Department.
Guest Speakers
Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from Amy Widestrom, the Executive Director of the League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania. Widestrom will provide insights into the organization’s mission and the various initiatives it undertakes to empower voters and uphold democratic values. Also present will be Brianna Rybka, the Pennsylvania Program Manager for Civics Engagement, who will contribute to the discussion on civic involvement.

Membership Information
During the session, registration forms will be available in both English and Spanish. Participants will learn about the benefits of joining the League and discover ways to get involved as volunteers or advocates for civic engagement.
Speaker Credentials
Amy Widestrom brings a wealth of experience to her role. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Theater from Oberlin College, as well as a Master’s and PhD in Political Science from Syracuse University. Her professional accolades include the American Political Science Association’s Clarence Stone Scholar Award, a Research Fellowship from the Brookings Institution, and an American Political Science Association Congressional Fellowship, where she served on the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs. Prior to her current position, Widestrom was a faculty member at Arcadia University and chaired the Department of Historical and Political Studies.
