Challenges in the Second Quarter
The second quarter proved to be challenging for UTA, which saw a drastic change in momentum. After initially holding the lead, the Lady Mavericks struggled as UNT capitalized with a 20-0 scoring run, making it a 46-27 game by halftime.

Emerging from halftime, UTA regained some of their earlier fire, forcing turnovers and displaying a solid 1-3-1 defensive strategy that unsettled the opposition. This led to a promising 17-2 run that brought the Mavericks back to within six points; however, a lack of discipline and missed opportunities thwarted their efforts to take back the lead.
