Curves Malaysia Launches Pioneering Women-Only Fitness Studio in Kuantan
The opening of the new franchise represents a significant step towards enhancing wellness options for women in the region.
Introduction of Curves East Coast Franchise
Curves Malaysia has announced the grand opening of its first East Coast women-only fitness studio, strategically located in Kuantan, Pahang. This initiative, spearheaded by franchise owner Nik Aloesniha, aims to create accessible wellness opportunities specifically for women.
Nik Aloesniha’s Inspiring Journey
Nik’s path to entrepreneurship began with a personal transformation. Initially a lecturer in Mass Communications, she transitioned to managing her own nurseries and kindergarten while balancing family responsibilities. Challenges arose when she experienced weight gain and gestational diabetes during pregnancy, casting doubts on her health and future.
“It was terrifying. Amyr was still a baby, while my daughter Amyra had a long way to go in school. I kept asking myself: who will take care of them if I don’t?” she recalled.
Motivated by the desire to improve her health, Nik embarked on her wellness journey in Ramadan 2020. Through consistent effort, she achieved an 8kg weight loss and began daily treadmill walks, overcoming challenges related to knee pain and emotional distress.
The Transformation Through Curves
While accompanying her son to tuition, Nik discovered Curves Bandar Utama, a women-only gym that provided her with the environment and support necessary for her transformation. Encouraged by Curves coach Elle, she found not only a fitness community but also a renewed sense of confidence.
“Curves changed everything—my mind, my body, my friendships. I didn’t just lose weight; I gained a community. I knew I had to bring this transformation home to help other women like me,” she stated.
Highlights of the New Fitness Studio
The Kuantan studio, which officially opened on 25 August 2025, features a 30-minute cardio workout tailored for women, integrating strength training, cardiovascular activities, and stretching using hydraulic equipment. This design aims to provide a comprehensive fitness experience that addresses various fitness levels.
“So many women here give their all to their families but forget themselves. At Curves, they only need 30 minutes. That’s the gift I want to give East Coast women.” — Nik Aloesniha, Curves Indera Mahkota 7 Club Owner and Coach
A New Beginning
Nik faced significant challenges in establishing her business, including relocating her family to Kuantan and leaving behind familiar support systems. However, with the guidance of mentors, training opportunities, and support from a PERNAS loan for Bumiputera entrepreneurs, she successfully realized her vision for the Curves studio.
This groundbreaking facility not only offers fitness benefits but also aims to educate women on the significance of strength training, self-care, and community engagement.
