The contest started with Kansas taking the initial set decisively at 25-14. However, Kansas State responded strongly, winning the second set 25-17. Kansas regained control in the third set, finishing at 25-18. The Jayhawks held a 15-9 lead in the fourth before Kansas State mounted a comeback, ultimately securing the set 25-23. This momentum carried Kansas State through the decisive fifth set, allowing them to win 15-8.
With this loss, Kansas snapped its five-game winning streak, dropping to a record of 15-8 (6-3 Big 12). Meanwhile, Kansas State improved to 11-6 (4-5 Big 12).
