Highlights from Hope College Track and Field
Alexis Deighan, a talented runner from Hope College’s women’s track and field team, achieved a personal best in the 10,000 meters at the Washington University in St. Louis Distance Carnival held on Friday. The junior athlete, hailing from Birmingham, Michigan (Seaholm HS), finished with an impressive time of 40 minutes and 17.72 seconds, placing her 81st out of 99 competitors.
In addition to Deighan’s outstanding performance, three more athletes from the Flying Dutch team participated in the non-scoring meet. Senior Maddy Struck from Hainesville, Illinois (Grayslake Central) recorded Hope’s best finish, claiming 33rd place among 36 runners in the 3,000-meter steeplechase on Thursday with a time of 11:34.38.
The Flying Dutch will continue to showcase their talents at their next meet scheduled for Friday and Saturday, April 4-5, at Grand Valley State University.
