Empowering Women Through Construction: Women Build Returns
Habitat for Humanity of Wood County is excited to announce the return of its popular Women Build event, scheduled for May 2 in Bradner. This initiative aims to foster empowerment among women while contributing to community strength through affordable housing.
Event Overview
The Women Build event coincides with the Mike Cray Blitz Build, a challenging project to construct two homes within a span of just 110 days. During this day of service, volunteers will support the construction of two sheds and the installation of floor decking for homes intended for two local single mothers.
Who Can Participate?
This initiative is open to women and their allies, encouraging participants to take up tools and engage in a meaningful endeavor. No prior construction experience is required; all necessary tools, safety equipment, and expert guidance will be supplied.
“Women Build is more than just swinging a hammer,” said Sarai Shaneck from Habitat’s Resource Development. “It’s about standing with other women, future homeowners, and the community to build homes – and hope.”
Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers can choose from two time slots: 8 to 11 a.m. or 12 to 3 p.m. To participate, a registration fee of $50 is required. This fee includes a volunteer spot, a Women Build T-shirt, light refreshments, and an exclusive invitation to the home dedication celebration for the future homeowners.
Registration Information
Interested participants can register online at the Habitat for Humanity website to secure their spot in this transformative event.
