In the latest golf event held at the Fields Ranch East course in Texas, golfer Thitikul expressed satisfaction with her putting performance, stating, “I think my putter went really well today.” Despite having not yet claimed a major title, her confidence was visibly boosted after sinking putts on the seventh, eighth, and ninth holes during the front nine, especially as conditions fluctuated with noticeable breezes.
Reflecting on her strategy, Thitikul emphasized the importance of patience. “I really told myself just be patient and focused on the next shot,” she remarked. Acknowledging the inherent challenges of playing in majors, she added, “you [are] going to miss anyway. What a way to bounce back. It’s more important.”
Amid the competitive atmosphere, fellow competitors were also confronted by the oppressive Texas heat. Lee highlighted the extreme conditions, stating, “I just kept telling my caddie, can you give me another water, can you give me another water?” She noted that staying hydrated was crucial, revealing, “I don’t think we could have enough [water] out there. It’s really hot.”
Korda echoed Lee’s sentiments regarding the heat, confirming the physical toll it can take on players. “It’s hot; I’m still cooling down right now,” she mentioned. Despite these demanding circumstances, Korda expressed contentment with her initial round, declaring, “I’m pretty happy with my first round in the conditions. It definitely takes a toll on you, the Texas heat.”
