Local Women Unite to Combat Heart Disease
ALTOONA, Pa. — A dedicated group of local women channeled their passion into a fundraising event aimed at battling heart disease, the leading cause of death for women.
Jazzercise for a Cause
On Sunday, March 30, the Blair Dance Academy/Jazzercise facility hosted a lively jazzercise fundraiser benefiting the American Heart Association, located at 2914 W. Chestnut Ave. in Altoona.
Leadership and Insight
The event was organized by Amy Van Kleunen, a nominee for the Heart Association’s prestigious National Women of Impact campaign, with instruction provided by Stephanie Strittmatter.
Understanding Heart Health
“Research has shown that much of our understanding of heart health derives from studies conducted primarily on men, leaving women underdiagnosed and often inadequately treated,” Van Kleunen highlighted.
Support for Women’s Heart Health
Funds raised from this invigorating workout session will support critical research and programs focused on women’s heart health.
Encouraging Healthy Habits
Engaging in just 25 minutes of brisk walking each day can significantly enhance heart health and aid in the prevention of heart disease.
