UWL’s Lauren Jarrett Selected as Finalist for Division III Honda Athlete of the Year

LA CROSSE, Wis.– Lauren Jarrett from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse has been named a finalist for the prestigious Division III Honda Athlete of the Year award, as announced by The Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA).
Finalist Overview
Jarrett is one of 11 distinguished finalists in various sports disciplines, including:
- Natalie Bruns – New York University (basketball)
- Faith Duncan – Wilmington College, Ohio (cross country)
- Olivia Foley – Juniata College, Pa. (volleyball)
- Amy Griffin – Middlebury College, Vt. (field hockey)
- Tristen Maddox – East Texas Baptist University (softball)
- Kaley McIntyre – New York University (swimming & diving)
- Hope Shue – Middlebury College, Vt. (lacrosse)
- Olivia Soffer – Babson College, Mass. (tennis)
- Katie Sullivan – Johns Hopkins University, Md. (soccer)
- Alison Takamiya – George Fox University, Ore. (golf)
The award will be presented on a live ceremony on CBS Sports Network on Monday, June 30, 2025, at 6 p.m. (Central) in New York City. Voting is limited to senior women administrators and will conclude on June 16 at 1 p.m. (Central).
A Celebration of Excellence
Now celebrating its 49th year, the CWSA recognizes the leading NCAA women athletes for their outstanding athletic skills, leadership qualities, and commitment to community service. Honda has supported this initiative for over three decades, contributing more than $3.4 million in grants to enhance women’s athletic programs across participating universities.
Jarrett’s Remarkable Achievements
Recently honored as the USTFCCCA National NCAA Division III Women’s Track Athlete of the Year, Jarrett is the first UWL student-athlete to receive this recognition. Her accolades for 2025 include:
- Victories in the 100-meter (11.30 seconds) and 200-meter (23.44 seconds) dashes at the NCAA Division III Championships.
- Leading the UWL relay team to an NCAA Division III record time of 45.20 in the 4×100-meter relay.
- Becoming the first athlete since 2014-15 to claim back-to-back national titles in the 100-meter dash.
- Setting a personal best and a championship record in the 200-meter dash.
Jarrett’s exceptional performance also led her to be named the 2025 WIAC Outdoor Track Performer of the Meet, achieving similar victories in the conference championships.
Indoor Achievements
Jarrett’s success extends beyond outdoor tracks; she was awarded the 2025 USTFCCCA Indoor Track & Field National Track Athlete of the Year after triumphing in the 60-meter (7.31 seconds) and 200-meter (23.94 seconds) events at the NCAA III Championships. This achievement makes her only the fourth in NCAA Division III history to win both titles in a single season, marking a notable moment in her career.
Furthermore, Jarrett’s performance at the USATF Indoor Championships demonstrated her prowess, as she tied her own NCAA Division III record in the 60-meter dash preliminaries with a time of 7.29 seconds.
Historical Significance
With her consecutive wins for both indoor and outdoor titles, Jarrett has solidified her reputation as one of the premier athletes in NCAA Division III history. She is now the seventh athlete to sweep the USTFCCCA Indoor and Outdoor Track Athletes of the Year awards.
