On May 15th, Swarovski’s flagship store on Fifth Avenue in New York City hosted a unique event centered around the intersection of women in sports and fashion, in collaboration with Jordan Brand.
Highlight of the Evening: Women’s Air Jordan 1 Retro Low OG
The event featured WNBA athlete Isabelle Harrison, who engaged in an enlightening discussion with journalist Lindsay Peoples. This gathering marked the unveiling of the Women’s Air Jordan 1 Retro Low OG, which is embellished with Swarovski crystals.
Tonia Jones, General Manager of Jordan Brand Women’s, commented on this collaboration, stating, “The AJ1 continues to redefine brilliance and inspire self-expression as a timeless design that transcends culture and fashion. The Women’s Air Jordan 1 Retro Low OG with Swarovski crystals is not just a beautiful shoe with elevated craftsmanship and materials – it’s a work of art.”
Isabelle Harrison’s Journey in Sports
As a forward for the Chicago Sky, Harrison reflected on her diverse experiences in women’s sports, stating, “I would say my experience navigating women’s sports has been very versatile. I’ve seen all different angles of women’s sports – basketball, volleyball, gymnastics, swimming – and have met so many different women along the way. We share a lot of commonalities, and being able to talk with someone who knows what you’re going through makes it easier to navigate this world.”
She emphasized the importance of professionalism, mentioning, “I’ve always tried to handle navigating this world with professionalism and grace because that is something my mom instilled in me.”
Community Engagement and Impact
Harrison expressed her surprise and gratitude at the turnout, saying, “I’m truly surprised by tonight. I didn’t think this many people would show up to hear my story and my journey in sports… I feel really appreciated and uplifted.” She added that wearing the Swarovski-adorned shoes made her feel particularly special, highlighting the significance of being able to represent both her sport and her fashion sense.
Swarovski’s Role and Vision
Kolja Kiofsky, General Manager North America at Swarovski, described the event as a “pleasure,” praising Harrison for embodying the perfect blend of sport and style. He remarked on the significance of unveiling the new Jordan sneakers during this celebration of women, stating, “They’re made for those who move with purpose and glow under pressure.”
