Ipswich Town Women Transition to JobServe Community Stadium
Ipswich Town Women’s football team will relocate their home matches to Colchester’s JobServe Community Stadium for the upcoming two seasons. This strategic move comes as the team prepares for their inaugural season in the second tier, now known as WSL2 (Women’s Super League 2), following their promotion.
Details of the Arrangement
Set approximately 16 miles from Ipswich, the JobServe Stadium will not only serve as the home for the women’s team but will also accommodate the men’s under-21s matches during the 2025/26 and 2026/27 seasons.
Rationale Behind the Move
Rachel Harris, the Head of Women’s Football, highlighted the challenges involved in retaining their previous venue at the Martello. “With the additional requirements and challenges following promotion to the second tier for the first time, it sadly wasn’t possible to maintain the Martello as our home,” she stated. Harris expressed enthusiasm about the new venue, saying, “We’re excited to be playing our WSL2 games at Colchester, and we can’t wait to welcome our fans to the stadium as we make the step up next season.”
Facility Improvements
The agreement entails enhancements to the pitch at the JobServe Community Stadium prior to the new season, ensuring that the venue meets the necessary standards for professional play.
Future Plans
Mark Ashton, Chairman of Ipswich Town, echoed the excitement surrounding the Colchester arrangement, stating, “We’re excited for the possibilities available to us at Colchester and look forward to seeing as many of our fans there as possible supporting Joe Sheehan and his team.”
Looking ahead, there are plans for the women’s team to host matches at Portman Road during the upcoming campaign, as the club searches for a permanent home location in Ipswich following record attendance figures in the past two seasons.
