WiTCON: Empowering Women in Technology
The Women in Technology Conference (WiTCON) is set to take place on Friday, March 28, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the GC Ballrooms. This event will feature an array of workshops, activities, and inspiring panels designed to empower women and underrepresented groups in the tech industry.
“Prepare for a day brimming with workshops, networking opportunities, and empowerment for local talent in tech,” shared Fer Pacheco, a director for WiTCON and computer science major. “Everyone is welcome; we provide free food and various activities throughout the day,” she added.
Last year, the event witnessed over 500 attendees, and this year’s turnout is expected to be equally vibrant. Major companies like Google, Microsoft, and Capital One will be present, presenting further opportunities for networking and collaboration.
Helen Gomez, a computer science major and treasurer for WiTCON, urges students to participate. “This is an excellent chance for everyone to make connections, network, and have fun. Whether you’re an FIU student or not, you’re invited to jumpstart your journey, attend free workshops to enhance your skills, and meet new people,” she noted.
