India Secures Maiden ICC Women’s ODI World Cup Title

Published on Nov 03, 2025

In a historic victory, India triumphed over South Africa by 52 runs in the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 final, clinched on Sunday at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. This win marks India’s first ICC title in women’s cricket.

Player of the Match

Shafali Verma stood out with her half-century and two crucial wickets, earning her the Player of the Match award, contributing significantly to the Women’s team’s success against the Proteas.

Prize Money Details

With this remarkable achievement, the Indian women’s cricket team will receive a prize of USD 4.48 million (approximately Rs 40 crore). This amount represents a substantial increase compared to the USD 1.32 million awarded to Australia at the previous tournament.

  • Runner-up South Africa will receive USD 2.24 million (around Rs 20 crore).
  • Each losing semifinalist will take home USD 1.12 million (close to Rs 10 crore), marking a significant rise from the USD 300,000 received in 2022.

The total prize pool for the tournament summed up to USD 13.88 million (about Rs 123 crore), which is nearly fourfold the USD 3.5 million available at the last edition in New Zealand.

Remarkably, this prize pool also exceeds the USD 10 million awarded in the 2023 Men’s Cricket World Cup.
