Indiana Women’s Basketball Season Opener Against Missouri S&T
Game Details
The Indiana Hoosiers will face the Missouri University of Science and Technology at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on Monday at 7 p.m. This matchup marks the beginning of the 2025-26 women’s basketball season for the Hoosiers.
Team Overview
Coming off a challenging season that ended with back-to-back losses to the University of South Carolina in the NCAA Tournament, Indiana starts the year unranked. The team has experienced considerable turnover, with key departures affecting the roster.
Roster Changes
The Hoosiers have seen a significant reshuffle as six players transitioned to the transfer portal, and three graduated. Notably, star guard Sydney Parrish, who averaged 11.6 points and 5.5 rebounds during her final season, is among those who have departed, having received both Academic All-Big Ten and All-Big Ten Honorable Mention honors.
In light of these changes, head coach Teri Moren, entering her 12th year, has actively recruited to replenish the roster. This includes six transfers and two high school recruits, aiming to fill the gaps left by the outgoing players.
Key Returning Players
Shay Ciezki stands out as the only returning player with significant experience from last season, having averaged 11.8 points and 2.8 assists while achieving a remarkable 93.2% free throw shooting rate. As one of only two seniors on the team, Ciezki is expected to take on a leadership role this year.
Additionally, freshmen Maya Makalusky (forward) and Neveah Caffey (guard) will make their debuts, with Caffey drawing particular praise from Moren for her impressive defensive skills and athleticism.
Comeback of Beaumont
After a year sidelined due to knee surgery, redshirt sophomore Lenée Beaumont is poised to return to the court. Beaumont had previously shown promise during her freshman season with averages of 3 points and 9.6 minutes per game. Throughout her recovery, she has emerged as a locker room leader and will now bring that leadership onto the court.
About Missouri S&T
Indiana’s season opener opponent, Missouri S&T, competes in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Under the leadership of head coach Kira Carter in her sixth season, the Miners concluded the previous season with a 15-12 record after a tough loss to Quincy University in the conference tournament.
The Miners’ roster features key players such as redshirt junior guard Anna Finley and junior forward Norah Gum, who averaged 13.1 and 10.6 points per game, respectively. Their balanced team dynamics will serve as a solid test for Indiana as they begin their season.
