CHAMPAIGN — The Illinois women’s basketball team has achieved an impressive undefeated record to start the season, earning them a Top 20 spot in the nation. This recognition comes from the latest Associated Press poll, where the Illini (5-0) are ranked No. 19. This marks a rise of three positions for Shauna Green’s squad, which has maintained a presence in the rankings for three consecutive weeks.
Upcoming Matchups
The Illini are set to return to the court at 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday for a matchup against Maryland-Eastern Shore, as part of the Music City Classic in Nashville, Tennessee. Later in the week, they will face another significant challenge when they take on No. 14 Kentucky (5-0) on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Nashville, just a day before Thanksgiving.
Season Performance
This week’s games in Nashville will be the first that the Illini play away from their home base, State Farm Center, this season. So far, the team has recorded victories against Florida State (83-74 on Nov. 7), Marquette (65-53 on Nov. 10), Eastern Illinois (84-37 on Nov. 14), Le Moyne (94-25 on Nov. 18), and Oregon State (85-66 last Friday).
