Illinois State Women’s Golf Team Competes at Redbird Invitational
In their season opener, the Illinois State women’s golf team hosted the Redbird Invitational at the Weibring Golf Course, featuring 16 competing teams. The Redbirds aimed to defend their title from the previous year but encountered challenges during the first day of the tournament.
Tournament Overview
Despite a slow start, the Redbirds concluded the tournament tied for sixth place, posting a total score of 604. The team improved their performance with a final-round score of 299, which helped them climb the leaderboard.
Individual Performances
Elise Fennell led the charge for Illinois State, securing a strong fourth-place position after the first 36 holes. By the tournament’s end, Fennell’s score of 220 placed her in a tie for fifth overall, bolstered by a final-round score of 75.
Meanwhile, Dani Grace Schrock made a notable comeback after a challenging first round, improving from a score of 77 to finish with a one-under 71 in the second round. This effort landed Schrock in a tie for tenth place with a total score of 223.
Supporting Cast
Rounding out the Illinois State lineup were:
- Reagan Kennedy: Finished tied for 23rd with a score of 227, highlighted by a final round of 72.
- Alex Sparrow: Concluded the tournament tied for 42nd with a total score of 233.
