In a noteworthy announcement made by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), the Michigan Tech Huskies women’s basketball team has received a special mention for inclusion in the 2024-25 Academic Team Honor Roll. This recognition reflects the team’s academic commitment and performance throughout the 2024-25 academic year, where they achieved an impressive cumulative GPA of 3.589.
A standout feature of the Huskies’ academic success is the recognition of six student-athletes who earned spots on the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Academic Excellence Team. Notable among them are Isabella Lenz, Soraya Timms, Alyssa Wypych, and Maryellen Trewhella, all of whom attained perfect GPAs of 4.00. Additionally, Maja Kozlowska earned the distinction of Academic All-GLIAC for her exemplary performance.
The GPA calculation for the team combines the total quality points accrued (with an A grade equating to 4 points) divided by the total academic hours attempted by each team member during the corresponding academic terms of the basketball season. This process includes converting weighted grades to a 4.0 scale, with results rounded to the nearest thousandth.
To qualify for this accolade, a team’s head coach must be a member of the WBCA and nominate the team for consideration. Each nominated team must maintain a GPA of at least 3.000 to be eligible for recognition.
