WILMINGTON, N.C. – The UNCW Seahawks volleyball team achieved its first victory of the season, sweeping West Georgia with set scores of 25-20, 25-20, and 25-11. This match was part of the UNCW Hampton Inn University Invitational held on Saturday.
Key Players Shine in the Victory
Hannah Forbes and Marnie Ursem each contributed significantly to the win, recording eight kills apiece. The team displayed remarkable efficiency, hitting a season-high .295 and also serving 12 aces during the match.

Challenges Faced in Second Match
Despite securing their first win, the Seahawks faced a setback later in the day against UNCG, where they lost in five sets. Forbes stood out again, notching a double-double with 12 kills and 10 digs, but UNCG’s Allie Best led the match with 23 kills.
