YouTuber Accused of Kidnapping Women Flees to Dubai
HOUSTON — Corey Pritchett, a YouTuber with over one million subscribers, is currently facing serious charges for allegedly kidnapping two women in Houston. Recent court documents reveal that after the incident, Pritchett fled the United States with plans to start a new life in Dubai.
The Incident
Pritchett, 26, has been charged with aggravated kidnapping related to an event that took place on November 23. Investigators from the Houston Police Department state that Pritchett initially met the two women for a workout session followed by a ride on ATVs. The night took a troubling turn during their visit to a bowling alley, where the women reported that Pritchett began acting suspiciously when he spotted a group with whom he had prior disputes.
After leaving the bowling alley, the women needed to retrieve their belongings from Pritchett’s car, and he offered to give them a ride home. However, instead of taking them home, Pritchett allegedly sped onto I-10, driving toward San Antonio. He reportedly claimed to the women that he believed someone was pursuing him over a past incident involving a car fire.
Threatening Behavior
During the drive, Pritchett allegedly pulled out a gun and threatened the women, even firing several shots out of the window. The women recounted feeling terrified for their lives; at one point, Pritchett made a phone call where he told a woman he had a "perfect opportunity" to do something horrific, expressing that he was heading "to the middle of nowhere where no one could hear them scream."
As the women texted each other for support, Pritchett discovered their communication and confiscated their phones.
Release and Escape
In a frightening turn of events, Pritchett eventually stopped the car along I-10 in the Sealy area. He reportedly urged the women to exit the vehicle, telling them, “This is your only opportunity.” The women were abandoned on the roadside around 1:30 a.m. and ended up walking for approximately an hour before receiving assistance from a passerby.
After the incident, Pritchett’s phone was switched off, and he took to social media to announce his departure from the country. According to the FBI, he purchased a one-way ticket to Doha Airport in Qatar on December 9.
The whole ordeal underscores the vulnerabilities women face in situations of trust and highlights the need for vigilance in social interactions. As the investigation continues, Pritchett’s actions raise serious questions about online influencers and the responsibilities they hold to their followers and society.
