Current Landscape of ACC Women’s Soccer

As of mid-August, the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) women’s soccer teams are leading the nation with a remarkable total of 42 victories. Commencing from August 27, the conference will showcase 28 matches within the week, underlining its solid position in collegiate soccer.

The ACC has established itself as a powerhouse, placing eight teams in the latest United Soccer Coaches Poll, the most from any conference. Notably, Stanford is currently ranked first, marking the third different team from the ACC to achieve this status in just three weeks.

Upcoming Matches

This week promises exciting game action with several high-stakes matchups. Highlights include:

  • Thursday, August 28: No. 3 Duke will face off against No. 8 Arkansas at 7 p.m. ET, broadcast on SEC Network Plus.
  • Sunday, August 31: No. 13 Virginia will host No. 16 Georgetown, kicking off at 1 p.m. ET on ACC Network Extra.

Performance Metrics

The ACC leads in various key performance indicators for women’s soccer:

  • A total of 42 non-conference wins, the highest in the country.
  • Excluding matches between ACC teams, the league boasts an impressive .807 winning percentage.
  • In matchups against Power Four opponents, the conference holds a .667 winning percentage.
  • ACC teams have recorded a 7-6-2 record against competitors from the Power Four.

This week, Louisville’s senior forward Mackenzie Geigle has been recognized as the ACC Offensive Player of the Week, while Virginia’s junior goalkeeper Victoria Safradin has received the Defensive Player of the Week honor for performances from August 18-24.
