Emergency Rescue on the Fox River

On Sunday evening, Geneva firefighters, along with local police officers, successfully rescued two women who had fallen from their kayaks into the Fox River. The incident occurred around 10:43 p.m., prompting immediate action from emergency services.

Incident Report

The Geneva Fire Department received a call regarding a potential river rescue, after witnesses reported hearing screams coming from the area near Bennett Street. The women had capsized near the 800 block of North Bennett Street.

Rescue Operations

To ensure a prompt response, both the fire department and police were dispatched to the scene. Two officers were able to assist one of the women to safety. Meanwhile, a rescue boat from the fire department, accompanied by a police officer, managed to retrieve the second woman from the river.

The St. Charles and Batavia fire departments also participated in the rescue effort, providing additional firefighters, paramedics, and divers to the operation.

Medical Response

Following the incident, one of the women was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation, while the second declined medical treatment. As of Monday, the Geneva Fire Department stated that further details about the conditions of the individuals were not available.
