Henderson and Lee Share Lead at LPGA Canadian Women’s Open

The LPGA Canadian Women’s Open has reached an exciting stage as Canadian golfer Brooke Henderson and Australia’s Minjee Lee are currently tied for the lead after three rounds of play. Both players are sitting at 11-under-par 202, with Henderson delivering a notable performance that included an eagle from a bunker on the 17th hole.

Quality Performances Shine

Brooke Henderson, a past champion of the tournament in 2018, finished her round with an impressive six-under par 65. This included a streak of birdies on the 15th and 16th holes, culminating in an eagle on the 17th that served as a highlight of her game.

“Definitely a great way to finish with two birdies back to back and the eagle,” Henderson remarked after her round, expressing satisfaction with her par on 18 under challenging conditions.

Strong Competition

Alongside Henderson, Minjee Lee also showcased her skills with a five-under 66 score that featured two eagles. She converted a long eagle putt on the par-five 12th hole and managed another eagle at 17.

Reflecting on her performance, Lee stated, “I would say those two (eagles) are my highlights and obviously the chip-in on the last.” She noted that while she performed well, there were still opportunities left on the course.

Challenging Day for Leaders

In contrast to the leaders, overnight leader Akie Iwai of Japan faced difficulties during her round. After beginning strong with a lead from the first round, Iwai struggled with three consecutive bogeys and ended the day at one-over par 72, joining world number one Jeeno Thitikul of Thailand at 205.

Fan Support Fuels Success

Determined to make the most of her home advantage, Henderson spoke about the invigorating atmosphere created by Canadian fans. “The crowds have been so phenomenal all week,” she commented, highlighting the excitement of playing in front of a supportive audience.

What Lies Ahead

With just one top-10 finish this year prior to this event, Henderson expressed her motivation from the electric crowd. As the tournament heads towards the final round, both Henderson and Lee are poised for an exciting finish, aiming for a coveted victory.

As the competition continues, all eyes will be on them to see how they perform in the important final round.
