Controversial Claims About All-Male Work Environment Ignite Sexism Debate Online
A graphic designer based in Delhi has drawn criticism for his assertion that working alongside all-male colleagues over the age of 40 has resulted in a workplace devoid of drama. Anurag Maurya announced his new position on X, stating that his office has no women employees.
Maurya equated his new job to a drama-free and politically neutral environment. However, many users on the internet perceived his comments as sexist.
Debate Erupts Over Post
In his X post, Maurya wrote, “Finally joined a company with no women, and all my colleagues are 40+. No drama, no politics. Just focus on work.” His announcement followed shortly after he revealed he was seeking full-time opportunities in graphic design in Delhi.
While some congratulated him on his new role, others challenged his views regarding office dynamics.
One commenter pointed out that office politics is often perpetuated by older employees, emphasizing that age does not guarantee a drama-free environment. “You are mistaken… all male colleagues = office politics,” another user responded.
Some users found Maurya’s implication that women are the cause of workplace drama offensive. One comment read, “So, should we avoid women at home too to sidestep drama?”
Another user named Pulkit countered by sharing their own experience, stating, “I was part of a team with six women; we worked diligently together. It’s unfair to stereotype based on gender. Collaborating with women is equally vital.”
On a lighter note, many users joked in agreement with Maurya, some saying things like, “You’re in corporate paradise!” and reminiscing about similar projects with older colleagues where politics was minimal.
