Witches on the Green: A Unique Golfing Experience
Scheduled for September 30th, Witches on the Green is an exciting golf tournament held at the Logan River Golf Course, designed for both men and women. Participants are encouraged to don their best witches and warlocks costumes, creating a festive atmosphere alongside the sport.
Event Background
The initiative was conceived by Joni Kartchner, who sought to create a fun and engaging event for women golfers. Inspired by a college friend’s mother, who organized costume-themed golf outings, Joni decided to replicate this vibrant concept.
Tournament Details
The event will feature two separate golfing sessions:
- Morning Session: Exclusive to women, starting at 9:30 AM.
- Afternoon Session: Open to both men and women, beginning at 2:00 PM.
Golfers will compete in teams of four. The tournament’s format allows each player to hit their ball, and the play continues from the furthest ball hit amongst the team.
Activities and Fundraising
Participants will have the opportunity to showcase their creativity by decorating their golf carts with Halloween-themed decorations. Additionally, a silent auction will be held during the event, complemented by food offerings, all contributing to a community-focused experience.
Witches on the Green is not just about fun and games; it also aims to raise funds for Operation Literacy, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting literacy in the community.
Conclusion
Witches on the Green represents a unique blend of sport, creativity, and philanthropy, providing an enjoyable way for the community to engage while supporting a meaningful cause. Mark your calendars for this spirited event!
