Georgia Women’s Basketball Reveals 2023 SEC Schedule
Upcoming SEC Matchups
The University of Georgia has officially announced its Southeastern Conference (SEC) women’s basketball schedule for the upcoming season. The Bulldogs will kick off their SEC journey on New Year’s Day, facing Ole Miss in Oxford at 7:30 p.m. The Bulldogs will return to Athens for their conference home opener against Texas A&M on January 4, scheduled for 2 p.m. Both matchups will be broadcast on SECN+.
Full Conference Slate
In a competitive season, Georgia will compete against each SEC team once, with the exception of Ole Miss, whom they will face both home and away. Notable teams like LSU, Alabama, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Oklahoma, and Florida are all slated to visit Athens, where they will meet the Bulldogs at Stegeman Coliseum.
Nonconference Highlights
Earlier this week, Georgia also unveiled its nonconference schedule. The season opener is set for November 3 against Alabama State on their home court. Additional key matchups include:
- A home game versus Georgia Tech
- A road contest against Florida State as part of the ACC/SEC Challenge
- Games against Kansas and Butler during the Fort Myers Tip-Off
Last Season Recap
Last year’s performance saw the Bulldogs finish outside of tournament contention, with a final SEC record of 4-12 and an overall record of 13-19. The team registered a victory against Arkansas in the first round of the SEC tournament, but was eliminated by Oklahoma in the subsequent round.
Looking Ahead
Head coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson guided the Bulldogs to an NCAA tournament appearance in her first season (2022-2023). However, the following two seasons did not achieve the same level of success. To bolster the team, Georgia has significantly enhanced its roster, bringing in a strong class of transfers and freshmen.
