Hope College Women’s Golf Team Shines in MIAA Jamboree
The Hope College women’s golf team commenced its season in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) on a competitive note, finishing third in the opening Jamboree held at The Golf Club at Thornapple Pointe, hosted by Calvin University.
With a team score of 319, Hope College came in just behind Kalamazoo College (315) and Trine University (316), highlighting a strong performance right out of the gate. The tournament’s format includes three additional 18-hole events scheduled for the fall and one 36-hole tournament planned for the spring, with the MIAA champion crowned based on the lowest cumulative score.
Key Performers
The team’s success was buoyed by impressive individual performances. Freshman Anelise Gatti from Brighton, Michigan, and junior Jaiden Winters of New Carlisle, Indiana, each recorded a score of 78, placing them jointly in seventh overall.
Junior Rachael Jones, representing Grove City, Ohio, followed closely with an 80, securing the 12th position. Senior Sara Muir finished with an 83, placing 21st, while junior Allyson Zuidema from Northville concluded the day with an 86, good for 33rd place.
Individual Competitor
Also competing in the event, junior Kylie Gernaat from Kalamazoo, Michigan, delivered a notable performance as an individual, finishing 16th with a score of 81.
Next Tournament
The Hope College women’s golf team will continue its MIAA campaign on Tuesday, September 30, at 1 p.m., competing at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall, Michigan.
