Demonstrating exceptional performance under tough, windy conditions, Galitsky achieved two significant victories on Thursday.
Galitsky faced Natalie Yen in the round of 16, where she initially found herself two down. However, in a thrilling comeback, she won five out of the next seven holes to turn the match around and lead 2-up at the turn. After narrowly missing a crucial birdie putt on the 16th hole, Galitsky remained focused, ultimately sealing the match with a birdie on the 18th hole, finishing 1-up.
Earlier in the day, she advanced past Pinky Chaisilprungruang in the round of 32 with a decisive 3-and-2 win, having not trailed at any point. Her dominance was evident in the round of 64, where she secured a 4-and-3 victory over Madison Murr, highlighted by an impressive eagle on the par-4 14th hole.
Galitsky qualified for match play with an outstanding performance in the stroke-play qualifying rounds, completing the 36 holes at 8-under par. She opened with a solid 70 (-2) before firing an impressive bogey-free 66 (-6) in her second round.
This week at Bandon Dunes, Galitsky’s caddie is assistant coach Yoshio Yamamoto, who supports her as she navigates this prestigious competition.
