NEED TO KNOW
Erica Wolfe’s face is a key part of her career as a realtor, often prominently displayed in advertising and social media for The Wolfe Team in Jupiter, Florida.
Her face graces bold billboards and appears in promotional content for her real estate business, making a strong impression during home showings and industry presentations.
Recently, she relied on filters and requested edits from her video editor to address concerns about her appearance, particularly her under-eye area.
“My eye started literally sagging, to the point where I’d always have mascara here,” Wolfe noted, prompting her decision to pursue cosmetic surgery.
Initiating her journey in 2023, Wolfe secured a consultation at Fifth Avenue Plastic Surgery in Delray Beach, Florida, after a two-year wait period influenced by significant personal changes, including her recent divorce, becoming an empty nester, and losing 28 pounds.
“I kind of felt like right now is the first time in my life that it’s about me, so I could do whatever the hell I wanted without it affecting anyone else,” she explained.
During her consultation, Wolfe initially intended only to receive a lower blepharoplasty. However, she expanded her scope to include addressing sagging jowls, resulting from her weight loss.
“We kind of just started adding stuff,” she recalled, ending her appointment with plans for a deep plane face and neck lift, among other procedures, totaling $78,000.
“If I am doing this, there is no later,” Wolfe emphasized her reasoning for opting for multiple procedures simultaneously. “If I am going to be out, let’s just do it all.”
While her intent was merely to fine-tune her appearance, she aimed to preserve her identity rather than becoming unrecognizable.
“If the next 20 years of my life, I can enjoy me time and feel good about myself, I’m going to do it,” she stated, emphasizing she didn’t feel old despite societal pressures about aging.
Encouraged by a supportive environment, Wolfe faced no opposition to her decision, as everyone recognized her determination.
To finance the surgeries, Wolfe cheekily mentioned charging the expense to her credit card for the rewards, marking a significant milestone after a challenging financial history.
Having experienced poverty during her teenage pregnancy, Wolfe worked tirelessly over the years, building her real estate business and establishing a network of over 1,400 agents.
Wolfe’s cosmetic journey began with a nose job in 2017, which she later revised. However, she stated her recent facelift was more intensive.
Leading up to her surgery, Wolfe adhered to a strict pre-op regimen, eliminating certain foods and taking multiple vitamins and medications.
“I was like, ‘This is going to be more intense,’ ” she reflected, noting that her loved ones seemed more anxious about the surgery than she was.
Post-surgery, Wolfe experienced discomfort but compared it to childbirth, recalling her initial wake-up state.
The recovery process was extensive, requiring daily care for her healing face, which included healing aids and active monitoring by a live-in nurse for the first two nights.
Wolfe’s first glimpse of her results unveiled highly swollen and peeling skin, making it difficult to gauge her new look early on.
On day ten, however, concern set in as she experienced a moment of doubt regarding her choices: “What the f— did I do?”
Although informed healing might take up to three months, Wolfe admitted to mental challenges when her face appeared swollen despite feeling physically fine.
Adapting to the new look has had its challenges, including managing unexpected acne flare-ups after surgery.
Nonetheless, she expressed satisfaction with several outcomes of the procedure, such as improvements in her lips, upper eyes, and neck, while remaining critical of the puffiness around her cheekbones.
Over a month later, Wolfe maintained her resolve regarding the surgeries, citing any desire to change would revolve around her preoperative planning for post-surgery care.
Wolfe has actively documented her recovery experience on TikTok, engaging with a diverse audience, receiving both encouraging and critical feedback.
Acknowledging the varied internet reactions, Wolfe mentioned: “I’m so thick-skinned to the internet — they’re not the first person to say something mean to me online.”
Wolfe humorously acknowledged that her recent cosmetic enhancements may appear as a midlife crisis to some observers, including her ex-husband, but reinforced that pursuing self-improvement aligns with her long-standing desire to prioritize herself.
