Unrivaled, a pioneering 3-on-3 women’s basketball league co-founded by WNBA legends Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart, is set to launch this Friday evening. The inaugural games will be broadcast nationally, marking an exciting new chapter for women’s sports.
The league features six teams stocked with prominent WNBA players, including Sabrina Ionescu, Angel Reese, and Alyssa Thomas. With a national broadcast agreement in place, Unrivaled aspires to further elevate women’s sports visibility.
Hosted in Miami, Unrivaled has a custom-built arena ready for its first season. The opening night will see Collier’s Lunar Owls BC face off against Stewart’s Mist BC, followed by Rose BC, featuring Reese, going up against Vinyl BC, led by team captain Arike Ogunbowale.
Discovering Unrivaled: Format and Features of the New Women’s Basketball League
Unrivaled is the brainchild of star athletes Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart, designed to keep top talent engaged during the WNBA offseason. The league promises a stellar lineup and lucrative rewards, including a mid-season one-on-one tournament where the winner can earn a $250,000 prize.
The format will consist of full-court games, differentiating itself from the 3-on-3 games seen in the Olympics. However, the court will be 24 feet shorter than a standard WNBA court, maintaining its width. Matches will consist of four quarters, each lasting seven minutes.
